Tuning Radeon 7900 XTX

I replaced my 3070 with a 7900 XTX for that sweet, sweet AV1 encoding.  Sure, a 4080 was tempting. I probably would have gotten one, but the thing is huge. I wouldn't fit in my case. As it is, the 7900 XTX has to be wedged in between the front radiator fans and the back framing.  Needless to say, temperatures are an issue. It's the reference card, but all the 3rd party cards are overclocked and at least 30 mm bigger. At stock settings, it was ooookaaaaay... but it was hot. Looking on Reddit, people had bad cards that were getting to 110 C. I wasn't getting that hot, but it didn't seem that great. I couldn't get the same undervolt that everyone else could.  Then I found THIS video by Ancient Gameplays. The key is to couple an undervolt (to 1060) with a counter-intuitive INCREASE in maximum power to plus 15%, AND and underclock maximum of 2500 mhz, minimum of 2400 mhz. Also increase VRAM speed to 2714 mhz. Seriously, the 14 is because there's a bug and to get 270

Fix Blurry Text in 120 hz Windows 11

How to fix blurry text in 120 hz in Windows 11 (or probably 10 too). From this forum post : Go to Settings > System > Display > Advanced display settings > Display adapter properties for blurry display. Then, click "List All Modes" Select a resolution near to the one you want so that the monitor changes, then switch back to the desired resolution at 120 hz. It should fix the blurry problem.

How I got java Minecraft to run like butter

Many hours have I spent trying to find a configuration that makes java Minecraft as smooth as the triple-A titles from the store. My hardware is capable, but for some reason Minecraft runs like ass no matter what I do.  Finally I have found a configuration that seems to work for me. I use a version of Java 17 by the Eclipse Foundation that has the Shenandoah garbage collector. I use the following JVM Arguments: -Xmx12G -Xms12G -XX:+UnlockExperimentalVMOptions -XX:+UseShenandoahGC -XX:+AlwaysPreTouch -XX:+DisableExplicitGC 2023/05/24: Found a better string -Xms10G -Xmx10G -XX:+UseG1GC -XX:+ParallelRefProcEnabled -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=200 -XX:+UnlockExperimentalVMOptions -XX:+DisableExplicitGC -XX:+AlwaysPreTouch -XX:G1NewSizePercent=30 -XX:G1MaxNewSizePercent=40 -XX:G1HeapRegionSize=8M -XX:G1ReservePercent=20 -XX:G1HeapWastePercent=5 -XX:G1MixedGCCountTarget=4 -XX:InitiatingHeapOccupancyPercent=15 -XX:G1MixedGCLiveThresholdPercent=90 -XX:G1RSetUpdatingPauseTimePercent=5 -XX:SurvivorRati

Solution: 5900x crashes on MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC motherboard

Upgraded to a 5900X on a MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC Motherboard. To do so, I upgraded power supply to 850W Gold and flashed the BIOS to the latest one. Even though the motherboard supported the chip, the 5900X kept crashing. I would get a black screen and the power button wouldn't work. I had to flip the switch in the back to restart. The motherboard would light up an error on CPU. Many of the solutions I found on the internet were old and primarily recommended disabling PBO and locking cores to their base clocks. They also recommended changing all sorts of settings. This ruins the performance of the chip and make its acquisition pointless.  Needless to say, I was very frustrated.  Lucky for me, I found a post by an MSI guy who gave the absolute best answer. The problem is the BIOS doesn't automatically set the limits for the chip, so the chip will draw more power than the board can handle and crap out.  Probably wouldn't be an issue if I had a more modern motherboard or

Namedrop Hegel, Marx, Kant, Hume to talk about the material precondition necessary for consciousness. Or, why the Boomers aren't to blame for the rise of fascism. They didn't have the necessary material infrastructure (the internet) to manage the massive influx of information of a global society.  No joke, watch ALL my videos at 2x speed. I can only talk and process so fast in real-time, but you can listen and process much faster. If you play it at 2x speed, I don't sound like a slow drugged-up space cadet and you get the info at a reasonable rate.
